After 4 days of working hard, Comes the Friday! 
So, Shout Loud...Thank God,It's Friday!
And Let’s get the party started!
After all, Who doesn't love a good party? But the trouble arises when you’re the one hosting one, instead of attending one!!! 

Oh no! I think, It's my turn now....All my friends wants to come over my place!

As my Apartment is newly constructed and is at the outskirts of south Bangalore, they all are excited to visit. So, I and my husband (Raja) thought, why not to throw a party on coming Friday and invite our few close friends.

It Require Little Brainstorming

It's a Saturday Morning, We sat together and chalked out what needs to be done, 

First thing first, What kind of party we want? 
Informal- Dinner + Drinks


Decided guest list & will invite them accordingly!! 

Cleaning up Living Area, Put away unnecessary clutter and organize!!


Few things which are really important and has to be arranged for good party is - music, lighting, food, drink, and of course, good friends!  

We can always rearrange the furniture & furnishing to make it more party-friendly. Our home layout allows us to combining our dining and living areas, which is a simple way to maximize seating area. So, we have enough of space to accommodate our guest.  (Around 12 to 15)















Furnish It Right

 While taking a sip of coffee, we together thought about how to arrange our furnishings. 

 Taking into consideration, we both have different friends and they don't know each other, so we thought the most efficient layouts tend to involve several distinct seating areas to best accommodate different groups. 

 We recently got married and are at the beginning phase of settling into our new home & new life. We don't have much furniture and had to buy few, now we got the reason!

 So, We logged on to www.fabfurnish.com and chosen few of our favorites, from which we can try the different kind of sitting.

 We thought, Layering different types of lighting and bring in lamps at different heights and places would be a wonderful idea. It will look and feel much more cozy.   

         
"How about lighting  some scented candles" , I added! 

My husband nodded with sarcastic smile.. (thoughts goes in my mind- Ahh...Man Will Always Be Man, what goes in their mind, nobody knows...!)

Lets Make It More Lively 

While taking care of my plants, an idea clicked on my mind....I rushed inside and shared with him, "How about using different colors in each seating area?".
He said, "how?", I said, "we could  do this with the help of flowers, decorative vase, colorful cushions & curtains, rugs, wall prints etc."

 I got a pat on the back, he said, "Shabash mere sheer"! I smiled and went to the kitchen to make breakfast.

 No holidays for me :(

Food, Drinks & Other Arrangements

While I was cooking, he came to me & whispered, "I'll take care of food & drinks, you don't need to worry" 

 He took the responsibility to arrange our wine cabinet & bar set. (he has it since his bachelorhood) 

We don't have enough of crockery, so our next task was to find & arrange delectable dishes, glasses, platters, table mats, etc. that are just right for our gathering.

As this gathering was purely for fun and entertainment, ordering our food was the option we opted. Specified the no. of guest, party type/date & menu to the service provider. Even decided to take the help of maid, if required for kitchen chores. 

While having our breakfast, I told Raja "Place your bar in a location where people can flow by to make it easier for them to quench their thirst". He got naughty and said, "what about my thirst?" I showed him the water bottle :P 

 He said with a teasing tone, "We have to arrange few non-alcoholic drink too, like cold drinks & juices for you & your friends". I said,"yes" with fake smile and added it in our grocery shopping list.

 Get Ready To Play Some Music


Music brings life to the party, Arranging background music playlist that is neither too loud nor too low was the task Raja has taken in his hand. Still browsing & creating playlist in www.saavn.com :P

Take Time For Yourself

Raja's has given me his precious advise for the party day, 

"Nidhi, When all things set, try to give yourself some time before the party to chill out. Two hours before guests arrive, take time to get dressed and get yourself ready." (2 hrs!! who need that much time)

And Just before the party start, I'll turn on the music & light candles.

This is how we divided our work and are excited (am bit nervous) about our first party, as a host!



What To Do,  When Party Is On! (Things To Be Remembered) 



  • Greet, welcome & mingle with your guests. 
  • Introduce each other. 
  • Keep an eye on food that is going around and making sure that it doesn't run out.
  • Don't be stressed, just enjoy and entertain your guests.

 At the end, Thanks everyone for coming and making your party a success!

Be Responsible 

Every good host is responsible for those drinking at their party. Be aware of guests who have had too much to drink, cut them off when necessary and arrange for designated drivers or tell them to stay at your home!
